Keep your exchange and brokerage accounts reachable. Wherever you are.
Crypto exchanges and brokerages send codes to the number on your account when you sign in, withdraw or change security settings. Keep that number on a U.S. mobile line that doesn't depend on a SIM card.

Why exchanges and brokerages care about your number
An exchange or brokerage account holds money, so the phone number on it is part of how the platform confirms it's you, and losing that number can mean a slow account recovery. They often check that the number is a mobile line, and many turn VoIP numbers away. TwinNumber numbers are registered as mobile. A phone number is not identity verification: KYC is separate, and you still complete it with your own documents.
Tips
- 01
Add an authenticator too
Where your exchange or brokerage supports it, add an authenticator app or security key alongside SMS, and keep your TwinNumber as the recovery number.
- 02
Lock down your TwinNumber
Your TwinNumber inbox now receives your account codes, so protect it with a strong password you don't use anywhere else.
- 03
Switch before you move
Moving countries or cancelling a U.S. phone plan? Change the number on your exchange and brokerage accounts first, while the old one still receives codes.
Questions
Does a U.S. number replace identity verification?
No. Exchanges and brokerages verify your identity separately (KYC), with your own documents and details, and that still applies. TwinNumber only gives your account a mobile number for codes.
Is SMS the safest way to secure my account?
SMS is better than nothing, but an authenticator app or security key is stronger where the platform offers one. Ideally use both, with the phone number as a fallback.
What happens to my codes if my plan lapses?
If a renewal fails, the number is paused and you have a grace period to add funds and keep it. On a number that protects money, keep your plan active.
Can I use it if I live outside the U.S.?
TwinNumber works over the internet in the countries where it's available. Whether an exchange or brokerage serves your country is up to the platform, and a U.S. number doesn't change that.
