No. Gemini stopped accepting SMS and Authy for 2FA as of December 3, 2025, saying they are more exposed to phishing and SIM-swap attacks. You sign in with a passkey, which Gemini recommends, an authenticator app or a hardware key. Your phone number stays on your account.
Gemini texted me a code. Is it real?
Gemini says it sends an SMS code only once, to verify your phone number, and never for anything else. Enter codes only in the Gemini app or on gemini.com, and never share one with a caller.
