Verify your AI and dev accounts. Keep your personal number out of it.
AI assistants, cloud platforms and code hosts like ChatGPT and GitHub may ask for a phone number when you sign up, sign in from a new device or turn on two-step verification. Use a U.S. mobile number that lives in your browser, right next to your work.

Why AI and developer platforms ask for a phone
These accounts hold code, API keys, cloud resources and billing, so platforms add phone checks to confirm a real person is signing in and to help you recover access. The check often looks at the line type, and VoIP numbers are commonly turned away. TwinNumber numbers are registered as mobile. It's a number for your own account, in a country where the service is offered.
Tips
- 01
Add a backup method
Save your recovery codes and add a second method, such as an authenticator app or a passkey, so losing one doesn't lock you out of years of work.
- 02
Keep it personal
Use your TwinNumber on your own accounts. Team access belongs in the platform's organization or workspace features, not on a shared phone number.
- 03
Codes one click away
Keep your TwinNumber inbox in a pinned browser tab, so a sign-in code is one click away while you work.
Questions
Will a U.S. number give me access where a service isn't offered?
No. A phone number doesn't change where a service is available. Use TwinNumber for your own account, in a country the service supports.
Can I use the same number for ChatGPT, GitHub and my other tools?
Yes. One TwinNumber can be the phone number on each of your own accounts, and every code lands in the same inbox.
Do I need a U.S. company or address?
Not for TwinNumber, which works with just a browser. The service you sign up for may ask for its own details, such as billing information.
