Use TwinNumber with Google Cloud.
Google requires 2-Step Verification to use the Google Cloud console. Add a real U.S. mobile number to your own Google Account for the text codes, and read them in your browser.

What Google Cloud uses your number for
- 2-Step Verification codes by text for the Google Account you use in the Google Cloud console.
- The SMS option works only once the number is added to that Google Account.
- A separate step from the Free Trial, where Google verifies your identity through your payment details.
Add your TwinNumber on Google Cloud
- 01
Open Security & sign-in
At myaccount.google.com, click Security & sign-in.
- 02
Open 2-Step Verification
Under How you sign in to Google, select 2-Step Verification, or Turn on 2-Step Verification if it is off.
- 03
Add or update the number
In the 2-Step Verification section, add your phone number, choose to get codes by text message rather than a voice call, and confirm it with the code Google sends.
Why the line type matters
Cloud providers often check whether a number is mobile, landline or VoIP before sending a code, and many turn VoIP numbers away. TwinNumber numbers are registered as mobile.

Do I have to turn on 2-Step Verification for Google Cloud?
Yes. Google requires it for user accounts that access the Google Cloud and Firebase consoles, including personal Gmail accounts. Your apps and workloads aren't affected.
Should I use text codes or a passkey for Google Cloud?
Text codes count as a second factor, but Google also accepts authenticator apps, Google prompts and security keys, and says passkeys and security keys help protect against phishing. Keep backup codes too.
Why does a new number take time to work?
Google says a newly added number can take up to 7 days to be trusted. Adding a passkey or security key may speed this up.
Do I need to live in the U.S.?
No. TwinNumber works from 150+ countries with just a browser and an internet connection.
Is TwinNumber affiliated with Google Cloud?
No. We test our numbers with popular services and publish the results. Google Cloud is a trademark of its owner.
What if a code doesn't arrive?
Request a new code, then check your inbox and notification settings. If it keeps failing, contact us and we'll look into it.
