What Yahoo uses your number for
- A recovery phone number that helps you reset your password.
- Confirming it's you when you sign in from a new place, and alerts about changes to your account.
- Codes by text for 2-step verification, if you choose your phone number as the method.
Add your TwinNumber on Yahoo
- 01
Open Account Security
Sign in to your Yahoo Account Security page and find Ways of signing in.
- 02
Add the new number
Click Add phone number, or Phone numbers and then Add phone number if you already have one. Enter it, click Next and follow the prompts to verify it.
- 03
Remove the old one
Once the new number is verified, click Phone numbers, then the Trash icon next to the old number, and Remove phone.
Why the line type matters
Account providers often check whether a number is mobile, landline or VoIP before sending a code, and many turn VoIP numbers away. TwinNumber numbers are registered as mobile.

Why do Yahoo codes come from different numbers?
Yahoo says the phone number it contacts you from may be different each time, so look for the code in your TwinNumber inbox rather than a single sender.
Can I use something other than my phone for 2-step verification?
Yes. Yahoo also offers push notifications to the Yahoo app, an authenticator app and a security key. Keeping your number as a recovery option alongside one of them is a good backup.
Do I need to live in the U.S.?
No. TwinNumber works from 150+ countries with just a browser and an internet connection.
Is TwinNumber affiliated with Yahoo?
No. We test our numbers with popular services and publish the results. Yahoo is a trademark of its owner.
What if a code doesn't arrive?
Request a new code, then check your inbox and notification settings. If it keeps failing, contact us and we'll look into it.
