What Apple uses your number for
- Two-factor authentication codes by text to your trusted phone number, when you sign in on a new device or the web and can't get the code on a trusted device.
- A recovery factor: if you forget your password, Apple may ask for a code sent to your trusted phone number before you can reset it.
- A way to sign in: any email address or phone number on your Apple Account works with your password.
Add your TwinNumber on Apple
- 01
Open Account Security
Sign in at account.apple.com, click Sign-In and Security, then choose Account Security. On iPhone, go to Settings, tap your name, then Sign-In & Security and Two-Factor Authentication.
- 02
Add the new number
Tap Add Trusted Phone Number (on the web, use the Trusted Phone Number section), enter your TwinNumber, choose text message and type the code Apple sends.
- 03
Remove the old one
Once the new number works, remove the old number from the same section, keeping at least one trusted number on file.
Why the line type matters
Account providers often check whether a number is mobile, landline or VoIP before sending a code, and many turn VoIP numbers away. TwinNumber numbers are registered as mobile.

Can I have more than one trusted phone number?
Yes. If you have more than one number, Apple suggests using one that isn't tied to your iPhone as an additional trusted phone number, so codes don't depend on that one device.
Does Apple send the code by text or by call?
Apple says you get a text message or a phone call with your verification code. TwinNumber receives text messages, so the codes you see in your inbox are the texted ones.
What if I lose my trusted number and my devices?
You can still try account recovery, but Apple says it can take days or longer and contacting Apple can't speed it up. Keeping a trusted number you can always reach helps you avoid that wait.
Do I need to live in the U.S.?
No. TwinNumber works from 150+ countries with just a browser and an internet connection.
Is TwinNumber affiliated with Apple?
No. We test our numbers with popular services and publish the results. Apple is a trademark of its owner.
What if a code doesn't arrive?
Request a new code, then check your inbox and notification settings. If it keeps failing, contact us and we'll look into it.
