What Whatnot uses your number for
- Every seller verifies a phone number with a one-time code, at sign-up or in the seller dashboard.
- Whatnot uses it for two-factor authentication and to recover your account after suspicious activity.
- It also lets Whatnot reach you quickly about account or order concerns.

Why the line type matters
Marketplaces often check whether a number is mobile, landline or VoIP before sending a code, and many turn VoIP numbers away. TwinNumber numbers are registered as mobile.
Why banks reject Google Voice →Questions
Where can I sell on Whatnot from?
You apply from the country you are located in, such as the U.S., Canada, the U.K., Australia or several EU countries. Your bank account must match: a U.S. seller account needs a U.S. bank account in USD.
Can buyers change their number in settings?
Not yet. Buyers ask support in the app through Account > Contact Us > Account > Update Account Information > Update Phone Number, and may be asked to verify their details.
What else does Whatnot verify for sellers?
Besides your phone, every seller verifies a payment method and a government-issued ID through Stripe or Persona. Account holders must be 18 or older; sellers aged 13 to 17 need a verified parent or guardian account.
Is TwinNumber affiliated with Whatnot?
No. We test our numbers with popular services and publish the results. Whatnot is a trademark of its owner.
What if a code doesn't arrive?
Request a new code, then check your inbox and notification settings. If it keeps failing, contact us and we'll look into it.
