What Etsy uses your number for
- Two-factor authentication is required when you open a new Etsy shop.
- Sign-in codes can come by text or phone call, or from an authenticator app.
- Turning on 2FA gives you backup codes for when your phone is out of reach.
Add your TwinNumber on Etsy
- 01
Open Security
Go to Account settings, then Security.
- 02
Turn off 2FA
Turn off two-factor authentication with the code sent to your current number, or a backup code.
- 03
Turn it back on
Turn it on again, choose SMS or Phone, and enter your new number.
Why the line type matters
Marketplaces often check whether a number is mobile, landline or VoIP before sending a code, and many turn VoIP numbers away. TwinNumber numbers are registered as mobile.

Why can't I get Etsy codes by text in my country?
Etsy's help says call and text codes aren't available in every country; where they aren't, you can use an authenticator app. With a TwinNumber, the code goes to a U.S. mobile number you read in your browser.
I changed numbers and can't get the code. What now?
Use one of your backup codes to turn off 2FA, then set it up again with the new number. If you have neither the old number nor a backup code, contact Etsy Support.
Do I need to live in the U.S.?
No. TwinNumber works from 150+ countries with just a browser and an internet connection.
Is TwinNumber affiliated with Etsy?
No. We test our numbers with popular services and publish the results. Etsy is a trademark of its owner.
What if a code doesn't arrive?
Request a new code, then check your inbox and notification settings. If it keeps failing, contact us and we'll look into it.
