- Opening a Shopify account requires an active phone number, used to verify your identity.
- Your account profile keeps its own phone number, separate from the one shoppers see.
- Store contact details can show customers a phone number for customer service, if you choose.
Add your TwinNumber on Shopify

Open your profile
In your Shopify admin, click your store name, then your profile.

Update the number
In Details, click Update next to the phone number, pick the country code and enter the new number.

Save it
Click Update in the dialog, then Save.

Check your store contact
To change the number customers see, edit Store contact details in Settings > General.
Why the line type matters
E-commerce platforms often check whether a number is mobile, landline or VoIP before sending a code, and many turn VoIP numbers away. TwinNumber numbers are registered as mobile.

Can I get Shopify login codes by text on a new number?
No. Shopify no longer lets you set up SMS as a new two-step authentication method; accounts that already use it can keep it. New setups use a passkey, an authenticator app or a security key.
Will customers see my account phone number?
No. The phone number on your Shopify account isn't the customer-facing one. Shoppers see the store contact details you set in Settings > General.
Do I need to live in the U.S.?
No. TwinNumber works from 150+ countries with just a browser and an internet connection.

No. We test our numbers with popular services and publish the results. Shopify is a trademark of its owner.
What if a code doesn't arrive?
Request a new code, then check your inbox and notification settings. If it keeps failing, contact us and we'll look into it.
