What Facebook Marketplace uses your number for

  • Adding a mobile number to your account may ask for a confirmation code sent by text.
  • Two-factor authentication can text a 6-digit code to a number on your account.
  • Facebook recommends keeping an email on the account too, in case you lose access to your phone.

Add your TwinNumber on Facebook Marketplace

  1. 01

    Open Accounts Center

Click your profile picture, then Settings and privacy > Settings > Accounts Center.

  2. 02

    Add the number

Under Personal details, open Contact info, select Add new contact, then Add mobile number.

  3. 03

    Confirm it

Enter the number, choose the accounts to add it to and type the confirmation code if asked.

  4. 04

    Use it for 2FA

In Password and security > Two-factor authentication, choose Text message (SMS) and select the new number.

Why the line type matters

Social networks often check whether a number is mobile, landline or VoIP before sending a code, and many turn VoIP numbers away. TwinNumber numbers are registered as mobile.

Questions

Can I use an authenticator app instead of texts?

Yes. Facebook also supports a third-party authentication app or a security key. If you turn off your only mobile number without one of those, two-factor authentication turns off too.

Why didn't my Facebook confirmation code arrive?

Facebook's help says to make sure mobile texts are turned on for your account.

Do I need to live in the U.S.?

No. TwinNumber works from 150+ countries with just a browser and an internet connection.

Is TwinNumber affiliated with Facebook Marketplace?

No. We test our numbers with popular services and publish the results. Facebook Marketplace is a trademark of its owner.

What if a code doesn't arrive?

Request a new code, then check your inbox and notification settings. If it keeps failing, contact us and we'll look into it.
