What Venmo uses your number for
- Venmo texts a verification code from 86753 to confirm your phone number.
- Signing in from a new device can require a code sent to your phone.
- Your number must be a U.S. cell that receives short-code texts and is not on another Venmo account.
Add your TwinNumber on Venmo
- 01
Open Phone Number
In the app, go to the Me tab > Settings > Account > Phone Number; on the web, Settings > Profile.
- 02
Save the new number
Enter your new phone number and save it.
- 03
Enter the text code
Type the verification code Venmo texts you to confirm the number.
Why the line type matters
Payment apps often check whether a number is mobile, landline or VoIP before sending a code, and many turn VoIP numbers away. TwinNumber numbers are registered as mobile.
Why banks reject Google Voice →Questions
Venmo's code isn't arriving. What can I do?
Text START to 86753 to allow messages from Venmo, make sure short-code texts are enabled with your carrier, then tap Resend Code.
Should I open a new Venmo account with my new number?
No. Venmo asks you not to create a new account; update the number on your existing account instead.
Who can use Venmo?
Venmo says you must be physically located in the U.S., have a U.S. bank account and use a U.S. cell phone that can receive short-code texts.
Is TwinNumber affiliated with Venmo?
No. We test our numbers with popular services and publish the results. Venmo is a trademark of its owner.
What if a code doesn't arrive?
Request a new code, then check your inbox and notification settings. If it keeps failing, contact us and we'll look into it.
