What PayPal uses your number for
- PayPal texts a confirmation code when you add a mobile number, valid for 15 minutes.
- With 2-step verification on, your login access code goes to the mobile number on file.
- PayPal can also send an SMS to confirm your identity.
Add your TwinNumber on PayPal
- 01
Find Phone Numbers
On the website go to Settings; in the app tap the Profile icon > Account Info > Phone Numbers.
- 02
Change or add
Click Change next to the number and select Update Number, or use + Add New.
- 03
Confirm the number
Enter the code PayPal texts you, then set the number as primary if you want.
Why the line type matters
Payment platforms often check whether a number is mobile, landline or VoIP before sending a code, and many turn VoIP numbers away. TwinNumber numbers are registered as mobile.

What happens if I switch numbers without updating PayPal?
If 2-step verification is on, the access code still goes to your old number and you won't be able to log in, so update PayPal before you switch.
Can I remove my only phone number from PayPal?
No. PayPal lets you remove a number only when at least two are on the account, so add the new one first.
Do I need to live in the U.S.?
No. TwinNumber works from 150+ countries with just a browser and an internet connection.
Is TwinNumber affiliated with PayPal?
No. We test our numbers with popular services and publish the results. PayPal is a trademark of its owner.
What if a code doesn't arrive?
Request a new code, then check your inbox and notification settings. If it keeps failing, contact us and we'll look into it.
